Strawberry Lemonade

This is another recipe that I shared for the April Wellness Initiative I participated in.

STRAWBERRY LEMONADE
1/2 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice
4 cups water
10 large or 15 small whole frozen strawberries*
Liquid Stevia

1. Combine lemon juice, water, and frozen strawberries in a blender.  The lemonade can be served right away or refrigerated for later.

2. When ready to serve, fill glasses with ice.  Pour strawberry lemonade over ice.  Let each person sweeten, to taste, with liquid Stevia.

NOTE: If you serve right away, you will have a frothy layer on top.  If lemonade sits in refrigerator for awhile, it may need to be stirred before pouring into glasses.  If it seems a bit thick, it thins out more when poured over ice.

*Although I used frozen strawberries, fresh strawberries would work just as well.

Get Healthy Blog Hop

Stephen TrempAlex J. CavanaughL. Diane Wolfe, and Michael Di Gesu, have teamed up for a Blog Hop that focuses on health.

The Objective: Share with everyone something you have done that affected your health in a positive way. You can share an awesome low cal low fat tasty recipe. Post simple tips to lose weight. Or a testimony on what has helped like joining Weight Watchers. Recommend a routine like P90X or Insanity. Or stretches one can do while sitting in their office chair working or writing. We’re sure people have countless great tips and ideas they would love to share.

**********

My tip is to find ways to get in some form of exercise each day.

It is recommended to get in about 150 minutes of moderate aerobic exercise each week.  As I have physical health challenges, I have found creative ways to get exercise in each day.  I figure 5 minutes here and 10 minutes there is better than no exercise at all.  Here are some of the things I do:

1. I am lucky enough to have a rebounder, so I walk on it while listening to music.

2. I sit in a chair and do leg lifts or use hand weights.

3. Holding onto the back of a chair, I can stand and do leg lifts.

4. While listening to music, I act like I'm conducting a band.  I can do this either standing or while sitting in a chair.

5. I share dog walking duties with my husband and son, so I take the dog out at least once a day for a potty walk.  We usually walk in the yard or up and down our street.

6. I can't get down on the floor to do push-ups, so I do wall push-ups.

7. I walk in place or do side steps.

8. After spending some time on the laptop, I get up and stretch or walk around.

If you find exercising to be a challenge, perhaps some of the ways I try to add in exercise will inspire you to get creative.

Yes, We Have Lots of Bananas ...

We have lots of bananas today!

This is the result of hitting a reduced price sale when I went shopping Saturday morning.  I bought all of the sale priced bananas the store had, which came to about 45 pounds.  Although some of the peels have quite a few brown spots, the inside fruit looked very nice.

Now I've got plenty of bananas for smoothies.  My husband and son have also put in requests for banana pancakes and banana bread.  All I can say is yumm!
